Tai Chi, a self-paced system of gentle, physical movements may help the impaired balance of people with mild or moderate Parkinson’s disease.
A small study conducted at the Oregon Research Institute found that tai chi participants had better balance, and fewer falls compared with people who did stretching exercises. Fuzhong Li, a researcher at the institute sees Tai Chi as a promising tool in assisting people with Parkinson’s “Were not going to get rid of the symptoms. It’s not a drug. It can’t cure the disease. But in my view, it can slow down the progression of the disease.”
