Tai Chi, a self-paced system of gentle, physical movements may help the impaired balance of people with mild or moderate Parkinson’s disease.
A small study conducted at the Oregon Research Institute found that tai chi participants had better balance, and fewer falls compared with people who did stretching exercises. Fuzhong Li, a researcher at the institute sees Tai Chi as a promising tool in assisting people with Parkinson’s  “Were not going to get rid of the symptoms.  It’s not a drug.  It can’t cure the disease.  But in my view, it can slow down the progression of the disease.”

A distinctive feature of Tai Chi is the constant motion of the body… one posture flowing into the next. The findings of this study appear in the New England Journal of Medicine….. Chicago Tribune  February 10, 2012
