Approximately 100 million households in the U.S. have pets. Research has shown that blood pressure and other stress indicators drop and that your brain sends out a burst of feel-good chemicals when you pet Lassie. Interestingly, petting others’ animals do not emit the same positive reactions. University of Missouri researchers have been studying human responses to a robot dog.
