The form of botulinum toxin known as Botox will now carry indications for treating the fine lines that cluster around the eyelids – known as crow’s feet. With the FDA’s approval, Botox becomes the only FDA-approved drug treatment for eye wrinkles; the drug is already approved for treating frown lines between the eyebrows. Botox is also approved for relieving symptoms of migraine, severe underarm swelling and eye spasms.
Over the weekend, Dr. Robbins spoke at the 2013 ClusterBusters annual meeting. ClusterBusters is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding relief from cluster headache through research, education, advocacy and support. One participant asked him if Botox can help alleviate symptoms of a cluster headache. While Botox is not indicated for cluster headaches, Dr. Robbins noted that it can help some patients, though not at as high of a percentage as that of migraine patients….. Time Healthland.com 9/11/13
